Alden Street Playground, also known as Ellison Playground and Grafton Toddler Park, has a variety of structures for kids through elementary school.
Ellison Playground and Grafton Toddler Park are great places to spend a morning. There are multiple climbing structures for kids of different ages. The first structure is shaped like a ship, which encourages make-believe play. It is rated for ages two to five, although my seven-year-old also enjoyed playing on it. The second structure is higher, rated for ages 5 to 12, although it was not a problem for my four-year-old to climb and use the slides. There are two sets of monkey bars designed for the older end of that range, a balance beam and a short zip line. The playground has three regular swings, one ADA swing, and four baby swings. Spread throughout the playground are five animal-shaped stationary rockers and a crawl-through tunnel. It seems as if the playground dates from my childhood, but it's in good shape, and my kids enjoyed it!
The playground also has three picnic tables a few benches and is entirely fenced in. There is a parking lot adjacent to the playground that is shared with the public library. There is a large tree on the playground and a few others surrounding it, providing shade on hot summer days. There are no bathrooms, but you can use the library when it is open.
The playground is also adjacent to a school and parking lot. On days when school isn't in session, you can bring bikes or scooters for kids to ride around.
