Let kids run free at Augsburg Park, featuring a scenic pond, inclusive playground, wide-open spaces, and quick access to Augsburg Park Library.
Augsburg Park is one of the best parks in Richfield! You'll be able to spend all day enjoying this scenic park and playground. Two parking lots give you quick access to the pond and playground. Select from the large parking lot behind the Richfield Community Center, off 70th Street, or park in the Augsburg Park Library parking lot, off Nicollet Avenue. Stroller-friendly sidewalks will lead you to the playground.
Start your day by visiting the Augsburg Park Library, featuring a fantastic children's section, including an impressive play area and a large selection of books. Be sure to grab a few to read outside with your kids! Outside, wander down to the pond to check out the resident ducks. You'll also find ample shade for a quick snack or picnic. There are a number of covered and open picnic tables, as well as wide-open green spaces perfect for a blanket or two. Charcoal grills are also available around the park.
In the park, families can throw a ball around or lounge on the blanket they brought with them. Plus, the shaded playground offers a wonderful reprieve from the sun. On the newly updated, inclusive playground, kids will find plenty of slides (including a HUGE one) and places to run. Or, play the musical instruments inside the playground. Then, be sure to try the zip-lines, merry-go-rides, swings, and more! Parents of toddlers will also love the dedicated crawling area on one side of the playground.
Finally, this newly updated playground has several features for families with children with disabilities. Designed with a local non-profit that supports people with disabilities, the playground features an accessible zip-line, accessible swings, a wheel-chair entry merry-go-round, a quiet area, and more. Plus, the playground is fenced (with the exception of the entrance area). It's certainly one of the best options for children with disabilities in the area!
