Barton Park is a small gem with a playground, a campground, and river access.

This park is nestled along the Clackamas River and surrounded by trees. Multiple reservable covered and uncovered shelters, first come first served picnic areas, a large campground, a fun playground, 1.5 miles of hiking, and its most popular activity: river access for floating in the summertime.

The campground has an RV-specific loop that is open a little later in the season (November) and a tent loop that normally closes at the end of September. Both loops open up May 1st for the season and can be reserved online.

Barton Park is part of the Clackamas County parks and has a day use fee of $6 or you can purchase a yearly pass if you plan to visit all the great parks they have.

Even though this park is sort of off the beaten path and outside of Portland, it can get very busy on a warm summer weekend with those who come to tube down the river. It does stay relatively quiet and peaceful throughout the week and no one usually in the winter (when we tend to visit) which is great for those kids who like to run around away from crowds. There are horseshoe pits, a softball field, and a volleyball court.

There is spotty cell service here, it may work depending on where you’re at in the park. Flush toilets are available and warm showers for those who are camping. Dogs are allowed in the campgrounds and within the park on a leash.

Mother of twins, living in the beautiful PNW. We love to adventure, geocache, go explore new places, take road trips when we can and get off the beaten path. One of our favorite things to do is to find green spaces on the map and see what hidden gems we can discover! I hope to share some of these hidden gems with you.
