Bay Trail is a scenic route that runs through the San Franscico Bay Area.

The San Francisco Bay Trail is a 500-mile long trail that connects the Bay Area. It is open to hikers, runners, skaters, dog-walkers, and it is wheelchair accessible. A portion of the multi-community trail runs through San Mateo, connecting it to neighboring cities and beyond. Not only is the Bay Trail a great way to explore what the San Mateo community has to offer, but it also provides an outdoor space where exercise is encouraged.

The San Mateo section of the trail begins near the Coyote Point Recreation Area and extends to Seal Point Park. In Coyote Point, the Bay Trail connects to the Bluff Trail which offers access to Coyote Point Beach and Coyote Point Marina. The trail also has an extensive strip along the shoreline, leading to Seal Point Park. This section of the trail offers an uninterrupted view of the bay and is the perfect place to catch some sun. The Bay Trail is more than just a walking path, it connects people with their community, and whatever way you choose to explore, you will not be disappointed!

There are multiple locations to park to access the trail. One option is a parking lot in Shoreview San Mateo, at the start of the trail by the Boardsports California store (1603 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo, CA 94401). Another option is starting the trail at the Coyote Point Recreation Area, which has an abundance of parking locations. A third option is parking at Seal Point Park (1901 J Hart Clinton Dr, San Mateo, CA 94401), where restrooms are located.
