Beresford is a spacious park with a dozen amenities, an impressive playground, and a beginner skate park.

This park located in southern San Mateo is the perfect place for a fun-filled day for the entire family. The park is home to a recently redone playground with unique play structures that children will love to spend hours exploring. If you have a curious child who likes to wander, the playground includes a gated “tot area” with smaller play structures. 

There is a large grassy field adjacent to the playground, as well as picnic areas. These are open to the public but can also be reserved online through the City of San Mateo website. This particular park is different from others because it offers so many amenities that cater to all ages. There is a baseball field with occasional local games, a basketball court, and four lighted tennis courts. If those options were not enough, the park includes a bocce ball court (a sport similar to lawn bowls) or a beginner skate park that anyone with a board can drop into. 

The amenities do not stop there though. The recreation center offers adult and youth classes to the community and acts as a rentable space for the public. The park is also home to San Mateo’s only community garden and a garden center that the public is welcome to explore. If you need a break, the park has a large sheltered area for shade and well-maintained bathrooms. 

Whether you choose to bike or drive, the park has space for both. There are bike racks, a private lot, and additional street parking.
