The Betty Queen Center is home to tons of play opportunities for nature lovers and happy, active families!
We stumbled across this full playground area at the Betty Queen Center, and we were wowed with the vast array of play and exercise options! Here we found a large play structure with a spiral slide, wave slide, and zip slide. For the climbers of your group, there’s a leaf climber and a mega rock climber - the size of a couple of doors wide! They’ve also equipped the play area with a sky runner, swings, and a whirlwind seat. One of our very favorite parts was the fun-semble musical station. It’s about 20 feet wide, has beautiful colors, and is full of different sounds for your musical ears. This play area is for elementary school-aged youth but the walking trail, exercise area, and woods could be enjoyed by nature lovers of all ages!
The walking trail wraps around the playground area, Health Department, aquatic facility and the back of the Betty Queen Center. It’s a little less than a mile and is available for all! We think the best part of the trail is the fitness equipment that has been placed behind the playground that can be used to enhance a workout or start the little ones learning kinetics. It’s definitely a throwback to the 80s gym days but really basic and enjoyable even for my pre-school-aged kids! Equipment here includes an air walker, backstretch machine, chest press, rowing machine, sit-up board, dip bar, and push-up ba r- all ready for your individual level and pace. And best of all, it is all free and open seven days a week during daylight hours.
There’s a covered pavilion right beside the playground and it can be rented if needed with six picnic tables and two charcoal grills. The fee is $20 for a three-hour rental reservation. A security deposit of $25 is required but will be refunded providing the area is left clean after use. If you need indoor rental space, you can check out their various-sized rooms available for rent for meetings and social events. It’s run by Louisa County Parks and Recreation so all of the information is on their website with forms to fill out.
