Blue Lake Regional Park has so much to offer for a full adventure day.

The pandemic has changed the popularity of this park, but there is still a lot to love. During the summer, this park is usually lively, sprawling with birthday parties and corporate events. It has slowed down on group events, but it is still a huge park great for bike riding, picnicking, and exploring all year round. Our favorite time of year to visit is in the spring when their flowers start to bloom and the cherry blossoms are full and beautiful.

Blue Lake is part of the Metro park system so there is a $5 parking fee or a Metro pass. The park is open from 8-5 pm, and their disc golf course is open from 8-4 pm.

There are a few sets of flushing bathrooms throughout the park, a ton of picnic tables (some reservable), water fountains, and a couple of small playgrounds. Their main bigger playground is still closed to the public for maintenance. The fishing pier, which is great for bike riding when there aren't any fishermen, is temporarily closed for repairs. Their seasonal beach should reopen in the summer along with their kids' splash pad. In the summer, the lake is open for swimming for children five and older. Those under five are not allowed in the water.

My kids always need to stop at the children's discovery garden. They have created a garden for all the senses; one section is for smelling, one for touch, one for tasting. We make sure to bring our scooters, balance bikes, and pedal bikes since a lot of this park are paved and flat which is great for new bikers. There is a wetlands area near the far end of the park which has trails and a couple of viewing platforms to look for wildlife.

The park has an 18-hole disc golf course. It's a great course for beginners or kids who would like to just throw discs into the baskets. There are also basketball courts, volleyball courts, softball fields, and horseshoe pits.

No dogs are allowed at Blue Lake Regional Park.

This is a great place to take kids of all ages. Lots and lots of green space for children to run, flat surfaces for strollers, and plenty of space to spread out make it a place worth visiting again and again.

Mother of twins, living in the beautiful PNW. We love to adventure, geocache, go explore new places, take road trips when we can and get off the beaten path. One of our favorite things to do is to find green spaces on the map and see what hidden gems we can discover! I hope to share some of these hidden gems with you.
