Bridgeman's Ice Cream is a sweet staple in Minnesota Tradition. 

This old-fashioned ice cream parlor originated in Duluth in 1936. The location in Woodbury has modern touches. It's gorgeous inside but has the same great treats that have been around for years. You can grab a pint to-go, or you can order from the counter for dine-in or take-out. If you decide to eat there, they bring everything to you once prepared. It's nice not to carry everything or stand around waiting, especially with little ones. They like to carry on with the old school traditions. Glass sundae cups, tin malt tins, and hand-scooped ice cream. The owners at this location are local to Woodbury and strive to give back and collaborate with the community. 
 

This particular location has a consistent menu year-round of 31 classic flavors in addition to a seasonal menu that changes with the seasons and holidays. During this visit, they had Egg Nog Ice Cream and a Hot Chocolate treat with a scoop of ice cream in it. Since the Minnesota State Fair is pretty much a holiday, they had Peach Ice Cream Nachos in August. The best thing about coming here with children is trying before they choose. Kids can be picky, and the staff is great at handing out small samples so you can make sure they like it. 
 

After grabbing a sweet treat, head over to one of the many parks that Woodbury has to offer and let the kids burn off the sugar rush. If the weather isn't cooperating, stop into Lookout Ridge, an indoor playground in the library's basement.
