Cape Story is a neighborhood park located on a walking trail with beautiful nature views.

This fun park is a hidden gem located very close to First Landing State Park. There are basketball courts and great walking trails to explore nature. The walking and biking trail extends from Hot Tuna to First Landing State Park. If you are up for an all-day adventure, the bike ride is about one mile to the beach at First Landing from Cape Story Park or 1.5 miles from Hot Tuna. Then once you arrive at the state park's beach, go for a swim in the ocean or enjoy some ice cream from the gift shop. First Landing State Park has events throughout the year, especially in the summer, so be sure to check out their activities such as "Marsh Madness" or stop by the visitor center for some more details.

The playground features an amazing climbing tree, bike racks, basketball courts, a playground, big kid swings, baby swings, and plenty of benches to sit at, scattered throughout the park. We love the sign language feature, which has the American Sign Language alphabet pictures which matches with letters of the English alphabet. The playground does not get a lot of shade, so be sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes. The walking/biking trail, however, is mostly covered in shade as it is lined with trees for the majority of the trail, but there may be a few areas where it is exposed to direct sunlight.

The biking/walking path does cross several streets, so be sure to stay close together. This trail can also be busy in the morning hours, as several companies and running teams enjoy its shade for practice and exercise as well, so maybe consider going after 10 am to avoid these crowds.

Make sure to pack extra snacks and water because this playground can get very hot in the summer. If going in the winter, make sure to park gloves because the metal play structure can get very cold.
