Red Wing Park includes tennis courts, two playgrounds, a dog park, and a huge field among other amazing features.

There is plenty to do and see at this 97-acre park. In addition to being home to the annual Virginia Beach Cherry Blossom Festival, this park has something for everyone. We recommend packing a picnic and enjoying nature while eating your lunch at one of the many tables placed around the park. You can even pack a barbecue, as there are several charcoal grills available. Reservations are required for the picnic shelters, which can be made by calling (757) 385-PARK (7275).

There are two playgrounds, both with ample parking nearby. There are baby swings, big kid swings, and therapeutic Cradle Swing Seats. Swing sets, seesaws, and rock climbing walls are all included, with plenty of benches spread throughout. Depending on the time of day, parts of the playgrounds may be shaded and some not, so they may get hot during the summer months.

Bring your furry friends along because there is plenty of space for walking or biking on the sidewalk and a dog park, which has a water fountain for the dogs. There are two public restrooms both with changing tables conveniently located close to the playgrounds and dog park.

For sports lovers, there are tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and handball/racquetball courts. The huge open field is a great place for tag, soccer, flying a kite, spike ball, cornhole, capture the flag, parachute, red rover, and red light, green light. But make sure to pack extra sunscreen and a hat because there is not much shade on the field.

The Japanese garden when you first enter the park has a separate parking area and includes a gazebo great for family pictures! Depending on the time of year, you can see lots of bees and butterflies enjoying the flowers as well. The cheery blossoms continue onto the walking path all the way around the field, which makes for great scenery on your adventure.

Make sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, bikes, scooters, and outdoor games, the whole family is sure to have a blast.
