Explore the new Cardinal Elementary School playground, check out a book, and grab a bite to eat all in one trip!

You can find the newly built Cardinal Elementary school playground right next to Cardinal Elementary School in Arlington. The bouncy playground surface will minimize injuries. The grass is made into round hills for kids to slide down, and there are plenty of rope towers to climb. Bring a ball to dribble if you'd like to use the basketball court next to the playground! There is another, smaller playground at the top of the hill next to the school. The open space is great if you have kids who just want to run around or for setting up an afternoon picnic.

Because the playground is part of the elementary school, it's open to the public whenever school isn’t in session, such as the afternoons and the weekends.

Next to the school is the Westover Public Library, in case you need to use the restroom or want to check out a book. There is plenty of parking across the street and next to the field connected to the school. Just down the street, you can stop by A Lost Dog for a slice of pizza or Westover Market and Beer Garden for a burger and fries. Toby’s Homemade Coffee and Ice Cream is a must-have for any hot afternoon and is only a block away from the playground.

On Sunday mornings the Westover area has a farmers market, so the playground is rather crowded at that time, but it’s normally calm any other time school isn't in session.
