Not your average playground, its large size and farm theme are sure to delight.

Cedar Grove Park was dedicated in December 2016 and is the fourth largest park in the Essex County Park system. In addition to the farm-themed playground, the park features the Robert J. O'Toole Community Center, four bocce courts, and three fitness stations along the winding walking paths.

The playground is great for kids 18 months – 10 years old. There are various play areas however they are all in the sun so hats and/or sunscreen are recommended. There are some benches in the shade if you need a break. Water fountains are installed in the playground area but were not working when we were there.

A jungle gym that looks like a tractor is for younger kids with small climbs and slides. The main jungle gym has several slides, bridges, tunnels, and a variety of play options. A few “stations” even have interactive elements like a car simulation with steering wheel and noises, another with animal sounds, and a third that plays scales or songs with various musical instruments. There are also swings, cow and pig statues meant for climbing (and popular for parents taking pictures), and a climbing apparatus that looks like a spider! The farm theme is well thought out and creates an extra element of fun for the kids.

Next to the playground are the bocce courts, bring your own equipment and play a few games. There are also some picnic tables in the shade. The community center has bathrooms and it’s also available to rent for parties. Across the street from the playground are the walking paths which are paved so good for stroller walks.
