Centennial Park is a quiet town park that you and your kids will love.
Centennial Kids Park is located in Alberta, Alabama (population 1,723). I frequently pass through on the drive to Foley, Alabama, to shop at the outlet mall. This playground is very well cared for and has a small-town feel. Your kids will love the multiple climbing structures and swings for infants and young kids alike. There are three infant swings and four swings for older children. The small mushroom house is so cute for little ones to play in and imagine they are in the forest. There are plenty of slides for multiple kids to gather without competing for equipment. There is one downfall to this park, in my opinion. Instead of sand or mulch for ground cover, this park has laid small pebbles. They are challenging to walk in, and you certainly wouldn't want kids to pick them up and put them in their mouths or throw them.
Just outside the playground is a park area with baseball fields. There is plenty of room to play outdoor sports or picnic in the covered gazebo. The public library is just one street away and is open Monday through Friday, but you will want to check the hours since they vary each day. You might even catch story hour for those who love to be entertained.
Suppose you're lucky enough to pass through in October. In that case, you might attend the German Sausage Festival for Elberta's famous German sausage and sauerkraut, plus continuous entertainment for adults and children and over 200 arts & crafts booths. Other scrumptious foods include German-style filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, red beans and rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn, and peanuts.
