Cottage Grove Elementary School Playground is amazing; it has so much to offer to the kids that attend this school and the community as well.
You must stop at this inclusive school playground when you are in the area. There are so many resources here for children of all abilities, such as padding on the ground, bright colors, and wheelchair-accessible activities. Although this playground is at an elementary school, many of the pieces of equipment here are perfect for younger kids. A huge swing set with multiple bigger kid swings and two handicapped swings sits at one end of the playground.
The other end of the playground has a huge structure. It has multiple levels and has so much going on. Slides come down at different angles, a wheelchair-accessible ramp connects it to the ground, and there are games connected to the outside that are reachable for anyone. There's also a climbing structure, some gymnastic rings coming down on one side, and even pedals that anyone can wheel up to. Last is a sway fun rocker that all visitors can use. One end of the play structure is geared towards younger kids. There's a smaller slide, a steering wheel, a small rock climbing wall, and some balancing rocks. Throughout the rest of the playground are individual pieces. There's a Concerto music spot with some musical instruments that anyone can walk or wheel up to. An inclusive whirl spinner that a wheelchair can roll onto. Next is a Ten Spin, where kids can stand, sit or kneel while moving. Another piece is Reflux, where children can create a wave-like motion.
There is so much to do here. You can easily spend hours here. There are a couple of reminders: no bathrooms or porta-potty because it's a school playground, only one bench to sit at while watching kids play, and zero shade. I still highly recommend stopping here and letting the kids play. It's a fantastic playground.
Head over to Junction 70 after your visit and grab some delicious appetizers on the expansive patio.
