Fantastic Hidden Neighborhood Park to Visit on a Beautiful Day
Located in south Fort Worth, in the Meadow Creek neighborhood, Creekside Park has a large playground, green space, walking path, picnic pavilion, and tennis courts. The playground area has two play structures, a bouncing ride-on dinosaur, and a swing set.
The first play structure, geared towards preschool age, has several slides, a climbing wall, steps, a bridge, and an interactive play station. The second play structure, geared towards five and up, is two stories with several large slides, ways to climb, monkey bars, bouncing bridge, steps, and interactive play station. On this play structure, there is a climbing obstacle course as well.
This playground is lots of fun for kids. The swing set has both traditional and baby swings. The play area is filled in with mulch. A downside to the playground is there is no shade in the play area. The structures have some shaded coverings, but overall it's in the sun. This can get hot in the Texas heat, so plan to come earlier or later in the day during the summer. However, mature trees are not too far from the playground and a large picnic pavilion with many picnic tables underneath. The playground is not busy during the week but can be busier on the weekends.
There is a walking path that goes by the playground area and around the tennis courts. This path is a mixture of concrete in sections and pebbled concrete by the tennis courts. There are several steep little hills that are fun for riding bikes or scooters. The walking path does go right next to the road, so be aware if you have young riders or walkers. There is also a drainage ditch that runs between the park area.
The tennis court is available for public use, and there is green space on each side of the ditch area, so bring balls, frisbees, and any other items to play in the open space. Kites are fun to fly when it's windy. The park does bump up next to an elementary school which sometimes utilizes this space.
Creekside Park is a great playground for kids. It's great for the local neighborhood and worth the drive into if you live nearby. Check it out for your next family outing.
