Supporting rescue cats while having a delicious cup of coffee is the perfect combination.
Just 15 minutes east of uptown Charlotte, the Daily Mews Cat Cafe has your coffee and cat fix all in one place. Their mission is founded on the belief that both animals and humans can positively affect the lives of each other. Spending time with the cats has been shown to lower stress levels and promote calm and relaxing feelings, and they feel it's the purr-fect therapy.
At Daily Mews Cat Cafe, the well-being of the cats is the highest priority. The cat lounge area is designed with thoughtful perks such as climbing trees, a window bridge, and large garden windows for sunbathing. There is even an area for the cats to retreat to when they don't want to be disturbed. This area helps the cats feel relaxed and confident so you are able to really get to know them. Daily Mews Cat Cafe works with local rescue groups to help cats in need of fostering and provide a safe haven. The lounge allows the public to interact in a cage-free environment with the goal to find a home for every cat that comes through the door. There is an entrance fee to the cat lounge, and the money goes towards the rescue cats. You get 50 minutes of playtime with the cats. You can bring your snacks and beverage purchases into the lounge area. They serve coffee (hot and cold), handcrafted drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and chai lattes, hot chocolate, and bottled drinks.
Reservations are highly recommended since the cat lounge is a small area. Walk-ins are accepted when space is available. You can still purchase coffee and gifts if the cat area is full, you just won't be able to enter the cat lounge area. They have an age requirement and ask that children be 7 years or older, accompanied by a parent or guardian, and come with a calm attitude. Daily Mews Cat Cafe wants the cats to have exposure to children but not to be completely overwhelmed by them. You can rent out the lounge for $50 and bring your family (all ages, up to 5 people) to visit the cats.
The gift shop at the entrance has all your cat-loving needs. With gift baskets, coffee cups, candles, cat toys, stickers, jewelry, stationery, clothing, and gift cards.
Nothing is better than drinking good coffee and helping local rescue animals. You can check them out on Facebook and on Instagram @dailymewscatcafe. Interest in adoption, check their website for which cats are available and information on the adoption process.
