With all the new restaurants popping up in Charleston, it can be hard to decide which ones are worth trying. However, coming from the brilliant minds behind Charleston staple Husk, I knew Delaney Oyster House had to be at the top of my list. Nestled in a historic house on Calhoun Street, Delaney Oyster House focuses on highlighting the fresh local seafood Charleston has to offer. A substantial raw bar list is accompanied by items such as smoked fish dip, clam chowder, catch of the day and a hummingbird cake ice cream cone - all of which I had and were delicious! (Seriously, don’t miss the ice cream cone) Delaney’s also has a “Lil’ Shuckers” children’s menu that features options such as fish nuggets, buttered shrimp, chicken fingers and fruit ranging from $4-6. We had a full dinner, but I could just as easily see stopping in for some ½ price oysters and a glass of wine during happy hour.
Things to Note:
-
The majority of the dining is up a flight of stairs on the second floor.
-
The bathrooms are spacious but do not feature a changing table.
-
Valet parking is available or there are garages nearby. (Marion Square or Gaillard)
-
I’d recommend making a reservation on a Thursday-Saturday evening. You can call the restaurant or book through resy.
