Charleston delivers with historic experiences at every turn and The Charleston Museum is at the heart of it all.

Along a one-mile section of Meeting Street, also known as “Museum Mile”, you will find six museums, five historic houses, and four parks.  Whether you’re a history buff or just want to get more in touch with Charleston’s rich history, The Charleston Museum offers a little something for everyone.  The Charleston Museum is the largest of the attractions along the historic “Museum Mile” and is open every day until 5pm. The museum’s extensive exhibits focus on bringing Charleston’s vibrant history back to life.  Interactive exhibits take visitors through a timeline of Charleston beginning with the pre-colonial Native American population and then moves through Charleston’s role in events such as the Revolutionary War, slavery, the Civil War and industrialization.  The main part of the museum focuses a lot on history and maybe geared toward adults/older children. However, there is also a kid’s room with activities to keep the little ones occupied. Free parking is available in the lot behind the museum and the bathrooms feature changing tables for the little ones.  Bring your thirst for knowledge and some comfy shoes to walk around the museum!
