"Play, Explore, Discover." These three words sum up the experiences offered at the Duluth Children's Museum.

The Duluth Children's Museum is a small, one-level museum with big dreams. It has a rich history - it was the fifth children's museum established in the United States. The museum is a nonprofit that relies heavily on donations. The admission price seemed very affordable to me. The staff and volunteers working explained their dreams of redoing the upstairs and adding an elevator to add more space to the building. I think this could be an amazing addition to Duluth, especially if some of the stations were geared towards older kids.

The exhibits here aren't big, but they keep children entertained for a few hours. They have multiple stations set up throughout the space. A huge indoor playground with slides, a climbing area, and a tunnel was the highlight for most kids. They have a canoe with a play campfire set up that my kids thought was super cool. There's a smaller area for babies and toddlers, with a little slide, a Plinko ball game, a mirror, a tiny tunnel, and toys. At the center of the room is an airplane! Two kids can climb in at once and it was a hit. Super cool! An entire wall is magnetic and they had PVC piping with magnets attached to be able to make a ball maze. It was quite a neat activity. The activities were spread out nicely throughout the space so it didn't feel overwhelming.

If you find yourself in Duluth with toddlers, I highly recommend stopping at this museum and showing them your support. There are so many well-known restaurants and breweries in the area that you can make a day of it. Duluth Grill is less than five minutes away and has fantastic food.
