Falling Branch is a great place to kick back as a family.
Falling Branch Brewery is a small farmhouse brewery located in Street, MD. The farm has been in operation since 1924, owned and operated by the same family. They expanded to include a creamery in 2004 to take advantage of more control over their dairy operation and expanded even further into the world of farmhouse brewing in 2015. What you’ll find now is just about the best place I can think of to enjoy beautiful rolling hills, vintage barns, and did I mention the delicious beer?
The staff love to entertain families with children but they do caution that adult supervision is a must. The place is a for-real farm after all. The taproom, situated in a beautifully renovated and spacious barn, is open year-round on Wednesday-Friday 5-10 pm, Saturdays 12-10 pm and Sundays 12-7 pm. There’s also a more kid-friendly outdoor area with a bar, tables and chairs, and play equipment for the kids. Folding chairs and blankets are encouraged should the place get crowded. The kids can also check out the farm animals that are onsite (again, adult supervision is required). While the taproom is lovely, it is not spacious enough to accommodate a group of rowdy kids. We would recommend that families with young children visit when the weather is nice and the kids can get outside.
Food vendors are typically onsite Friday through Sunday. You’re also welcome to bring your own food at any time. Check the website to see what type of food may or may not be available on any given night! We were told that there is also a pizza delivery option in the area. If you’re going on a Sunday, Ravens games are televised in the taproom, as well. Be aware that pets are not allowed, so please leave your goldfish at home. Onsite parking is plentiful and the entire facility is wheelchair and stroller friendly.
As if this rustic and beautifully executed hang-out spot weren't great enough, make sure to check their website for special events. Live music can regularly be enjoyed and in autumn you’d be hard-pressed to find a better pumpkin patch to take the kids on a hayride, scarecrow making and pumpkin picking.
