Enjoy the tranquil and serene environment at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

Overlooking Rocky Bayou, this park is popular spot for boating and fishing. Spend the entire day and enjoy hiking, biking, paddling and observing the park’s diverse wildlife.

Rocky Bayou State Park boasts a modern playground facility under a canopy of mature trees and features one large play structure providing slides and climbing areas of multiple heights. There is also an interactive area for toddlers, pull-up bars, as well as swings. After playing consider taking a short hike along The Red Cedar Trail. The trailhead is located just off of the playground area and is home to impressive red cedar trees along with many other varieties of plants, shrubs and trees.

The whole family can take a leisurely ride on the park’s three miles of paved road. Helmets are highly recommended for all cyclists and Florida law requires helmets for cyclists age 16 and under. Bicycles are limited to roadways and are not permitted on any footpaths in effort to preserve the natural areas of the park.

Bring your canoe or kayak or rent one from the ranger station for a day of adventure exploring the wonders of Rocky Bayou and the nearby freshwater stream. It is possible to spot dolphins and otters as well as various birds and water fowl. With the occasional appearance of bald eagles, this area is a favorite among bird-watchers.

Boaters will enjoy the double-access boat ramp that provides access to Rocky Bayou, Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A large parking area is provided in the ramp area to allow boaters enough room to park their vehicle and boat trailer. The boat ramp will accommodate vessels up to a maximum of 30 feet long and overnight docking is not permitted.

The park offers both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Some of the more common fish are mullet, trout and flounder. Saltwater fish may be caught in Rocky Bayou while freshwater fishing is available where Rocky Creek flows into the bay. All fishing within the park must conform to Florida Wildlife Commission’s regulations concerning size, number, method of capture and season. A fishing license may also be required.

There are multiple picnic tables scattered throughout the day use area – perfect for a picnic lunch after a day of playing, hiking and biking. Two picnic pavilions are available to rent for large groups and special events. For more information, contact the events coordinator at 850-269-1062. Restroom facilities with changing tables are also located in the day use area. Pets may accompany you to the area but are not allowed on beaches or the playground. Pet clean-up stations can be found throughout the park for convenience.
