Gillson Park, in Wilmette, is a fantastic park for families to enjoy nature and have fun!

Located right off of Lake Michigan, there's a playground, a tennis court, a picnic area, a private beach with water access, and a public beach (with restrictions). The beach areas are fantastic for a day trip with your family, and can easily accommodate a large number of visitors. The picnic area has a ton of space, and the playground is well-maintained and safe for children of all ages.

The cost of daily beach passes for Gillson Beach is $8 for Wilmette residents and $14 for non-residents. You can purchase them at the beach house. This pass allows access to the beach, as well as the use of the facilities, including the showers and bathrooms. The beach is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If you are looking to have a day at the beach but do not want to get in the water, there is also access to a small beach just south of the “official” beach. It is a great spot for building sandcastles and getting your feet wet, but lifeguards will stop you from entering the water here.

The playground is huge and unique! The structures include a tall tower and a playscape shaped like a boat. Kiddos will love it and there seems to be plenty of room, even on a more crowded day.

The bathrooms at Gillson Park are located in the center of the park, at the Lakeview Center, and at the beach house. Gillson Park is easily accessible by car but parking can be a little tricky. Be sure to read the signs as only a small area of the street parking in the park is for the public. The rest are for residents or season pass holders. You can also do paid parking in the lot by the paid beach.

Gillson is a great all-in-one spot. There is so much to do, and enjoy, in one location!
