Hidden Valley Park is made up of 21 acres of outdoor adventures that are great for any family. 

This large space has trails to explore, a small neighborhood playground, horseshoe pits, and a fishing pier and pond that is stocked with fish. So many things to do! Along the trails, there are signs that educate visitors on natural resources, as some of the areas are restored prairie and wetland. 

The playground at this park is small and quaint. You won't find any fancy equipment here but you will find a simple neighborhood playground with swings, including baby swings, two slides, and a climbing area. There is a bench next to the playground where parents or caregivers can sit and watch the children. You are able to see every angle from the bench so it's perfect for taking a break while the kids burn off some energy. Next to the playground, you can find the horseshoe pits, and although we didn't use them, they did look well-maintained. 

The fishing pond and pier are located on the opposite side of the park from the playground. You can either walk over on the trails or drive over to the other side. The Department of Natural Resources stocks the pond with Blue Gill, Bull Heads and Crappies. The pier and trails nearby are paved and wheelchair-friendly. In the winter I have seen neighborhood families skating and playing hockey on the pond. 

Cottage Grove has so many trails that connect its parks to one another, it is truly amazing. If you aren't up for a walk to another park then you should pack up the kids and head to 3rd Act Brewery right up the road and grab a pint and giant pretzel to share. (The pizza is delicious too). Have fun!!
