Historic Kirchem Farm is a wonderful spot to pick out a pumpkin in the fall.
This historic farm was established in 1890 by the Kirchem Family and has been primarily a Christmas tree farm up until a few years ago. However, their Christmas tree fields have struggled recently, so the family wanted to try something different, growing heirloom pumpkins and providing a fantastic family-friendly fall experience.
Our favorite types of fall festivals are the family-run, low-key, easy-going ones, just like Kirchem. They offer so much space to roam, including fields of 35+ types of heirloom pumpkins, squash, and gourds all on the vine. They recommend bringing your own saw, but they will always have some to borrow if you need to.
A fun kids' play structure is there, and a kids' area in their barn. Every year they have a couple of food truck vendors. Make sure you get the brick of fresh-cut french fries, homemade corn dogs, and elephant ears! Inside the barn, they've got wine and beer for those 21 and older.
Free hayrides run weather dependent, and the kids love them. There are wagons throughout the farm for those with bigger pumpkins. A wash station is provided in case pumpkins are dirty before putting them into your car.
The farm is open on weekends only in October. Parking opens at 9:30 am, and they'll close the parking entrance at 3:30 pm (grounds close at 5).
Cost is $10/vehicle but includes access to the play area, kid zone in the barn, and hayrides. Make sure you visit their horses too! Dogs are not allowed. They accept credit cards and cash.
