A fantastic outdoor space calls for family outings at the Hudson River Greenway Trail.
Located in Congers, the Hudson River Greenway Trail is an 11-mile section of the Hudson River Valley Greenway. The Hudson River Valley Greenway was created to establish a network of multi-use trails along both sides of the Hudson River. This was designed to help encourage people to bike and walk to various places within the community. The Greenway Land Trails has three types of designations; riverside trails, countryside corridors, and connector trails. This section of the greenway is considered a riverside trail since it hugs the ridge line of the Hudson River. These greenway trails can have river access sites, historic sites, and scenic downtowns. New parts of this trail are being added, planned, and designed each year. This section of the paved trail can be used for walking, jogging, biking, scootering, and roller blades. Scenic views of the palisades, river, and bridge. The greenway is well marked with mileage to see how far you have gone. The wildlife has been known to bring birders from all around to view many species that call this place home such as blue jays, hawks, peregrine falcons, bald eagles, tanagers, and Baltimore orioles.
This section of the Hudson River Greenway Trail access points are at Nyack Beach State Park, Rockland Lake Trail in Rockland Lake State Park, and Haverstraw Beach State Park. The complete section of the Greenway in Rockland County section is extended from the Palisades State Park to Bear Mountain State Park.
This small section of the Hudson River Greenway Trail offers a great opportunity for the local families to get outside, enjoy nature, and get some exercise.
