Jean Klock Beach boasts a beautiful stretch of beach with plenty to do there.
Located along Lake Michigan, just north of the St. Joseph River, Jean Klock Park features a playground, beach access, walking trails, picnic shelters, an observation tower, a bathhouse, a concession stand, and restrooms. The playground is right on the beach and has a play structure and swing set. The playground is geared towards elementary ages and younger with slides, climbing, steps, and ladder.
The beach is a large stretch of sand, so there is ample space to have a great beach day. Bring your blanket, umbrella, food, drinks, and sunscreen, and enjoy the day outside. The beach has a boardwalk to make it easier to access the beach and ends at a cement terrace with benches. There are restrooms and a bathhouse available to rinse off before heading home. This is also a great spot to come during the evening and watch the sunset. Do know that there are no lifeguards on duty, so this is a swim-at-your-own-risk beach.
There is also a nice walking trail that goes around the grassy area of the park. This is a paved trail so its perfect for pushing a stroller, bikes, scooters, and walking/running.
You have to pay for parking. If there is no one at the gate, you still need to pay at the kiosk and have your license plate ready. You don't want to accidently get a ticket for not paying!
Jean Klock Park is a great space to enjoy the day without the crowds that you can have at Silver Beach. Check it out for your next family outing. The park also hosts numerous events throughout the year like Sounds on the Sand and the Ironman Triathlon.
