Kargel Park is a great 25-acre park in Woodbury with activities for all year long.

As soon as we arrived I was pleasantly surprised that a park of this size has an actual parking lot, a huge plus in my book. The park consists of a playground, paved trails, an ice rink, and a building with an attached small pavilion. The playground here is the perfect size if you want to be able to sit and watch the kids play versus running all over watching them. It consists of a smaller toddler-size play structure that has a climber, 2 slides, and a little window area to play "store." Across from the smaller structure is the big play area. Its quite tall and consists of a few slides; both straight and curvy, a bright blue bench, and a blue window to play 'store' or 'restaurant. The highlight here for my kids is the abundance of climbing areas attached to it. A rock-climbing wall and 2 metal type climbers. The swings are the last part of the playground. There were 2 toddler sizes and 2 big kids sizes. The ground under the playground is made up of woodchips so I recommend closed-toed shoes.

On the other side of the playground is the outdoor skating rink. It looked well maintained and would be a good winter spot. I bet it is not very busy so it would be a good spot to learn to skate. The building here is used for a warming house in the winter and is also rented out by the city for birthday parties. The building has a small pavilion attached with an overhang, a good spot to get a break from the sunshine and have a snack. There are restrooms inside the building but they weren't open when we visited, I am guessing maybe only in use when the warming house is open.
