Lamar Fields Park and Playground are well known for baseball and softball tournaments, and in the fall of 2021, the playground got an incredible upgrade.

The new playground at this park is absolutely amazing. It's hidden behind trees, therefore it is mostly shaded. It is in the middle of all of the athletic fields, which is perfect for parents with a child playing sports here. The park encompasses 21 acres between the playground, bocce ball court, and athletic fields. This park has real bathrooms, a plus for moms. If you visit on a weekend when a tournament or game happens, expect it to be busy with other kids running between the playground and fields.

They offer concessions during games, which is a huge plus if you want to grab a quick snack or bite to eat. My absolute favorite part is the amount of seating. Tons of tables located near the playground so you can quickly get work done or scroll your phone while the kids burn off some energy. The playground equipment consists of slides, climbers, and monkey bars. I am surprised they had no swings, but I wonder if they will eventually add some. If you have older kids beyond the playground stage, this is a great place to come and practice some baseball or softball skills on a weeknight. It's usually quiet, and you would probably have the fields to yourself. The city maintains this park very well. I highly recommend this off-the-beaten bath park. There's so much here to offer to kids of all ages. 

After enjoying this playground for a while, head just up the road to Bridgemans Ice Cream in Woodbury for a sweet treat.
