Imagine the most beautiful playroom filled with all of the best Waldorf, Montessori, and open-ended play toys… LEKA Playland is a child’s dream come true! This magical indoor play place is located in Tigard is perfect for ages 0-5.

LEKA is an indoor play place beautifully designed in the Scandinavian style - think modern, chic, clean lines, muted tones, organic. They have all of the best heirloom-quality wooden toys that will allow your little kiddos to go wild with creativity and have a blast while learning! The owner and staff are all super friendly and welcoming, and I’m thrilled they have made this play place happen.

They aim to keep the maximum capacity at 15 people total and ask at least one adult to every three children. However, it’s important to note that this is a space intended for you to play with your children. Although they will likely befriend others, you will need to stay close by to supervise your children.

Children over eight months old require a ticket and the cost is $14 per child. There is no limit to how long your child can play; however, they say most families spend about 1.5 - 2 hours per play session. They accept cards and Apple Pay. It is all first-come, first-serve, and there are no reservations. You can either check their website (https://www.lekaplayland.com/plan-your-visit) to see what current capacity looks like, or give them a call! Outside food is allowed; however, it can only be consumed in the snack area. Packaged kids snacks and Nespresso coffee are available for purchase; you will need to scan a QR code and pay with a smartphone.

When you enter, you’ll have your temperature taken and be asked to show your vaccination card for people 12+. Ages 5+ are required to wear a mask. It’s a shoe-free environment, and socks are required; you can stow your shoes in the cubbies provided in the reception area. From there, you’ll head through a baby gate and down a hall that opens to a bunch of thematic playrooms.

The play place is kept exceptionally clean, and every room and nook is warm and welcoming. They have a HEPA filtered air sanitizer running around the clock and the staff regularly disinfect toys. We saw them sanitizing toys several times throughout the two hours we were there.

The first room contains a train set and squishy mat with car and truck play roads. Across the hall is a woodland-inspired room with a play yurt, nature books, and the cutest floor cushions that look like slices of wood. They also have the most darling little wooden woodland animal figurines to play with.

Continuing down the hall, you’ll find a room where your kiddos’ domestic creativity can go wild. It includes a play kitchen, a shopping cart, a big market filled to brim with felt and wooden produce, baked goods, all the goodies you’d find at a Farmer’s Market, a big wooden kitchen, and a table to “dine” at. On the other side of the room, your kiddos can play dress-up with an entire fantastical wardrobe, and for quiet play, there is also a cute wooden dollhouse.

Across the hall, you’ll find the perfect room for infants that has all the classics your baby will love, but toys your slightly older toddler will love as well (Mamas in the “2 Under 2 Club”, I’m talking to you!!!) They have a pull-up bar with the sweetest tiny cloud-shaped mirrors, a small wooden climber with slide and climbing pillows, and lots of classic wooden and silicon baby toys.

Down the hallway, you’ll find a snacking room (with a self-service snack bar and coffee machine). A sensory play station with rocks and kinetic sand is located at the far end. Across from that, you'll find a big, beautiful wooden climbing structure with a slide and even a pulley to hoist your toys to the top! There is a balance board, balance beam, colored stepping stones, and a nugget!

They have a large, family-friendly restroom with a changing table and ample space (which is especially nice if you have more than one child with you!) fully stocked with diapers, wipes, a toddler seat, and a potty seat. In addition, the handwashing station is just outside the restroom.

If you’re looking to make this into a full-day adventure, consider grabbing lunch or dinner at McMenamins John Barleycorns (.7 mi away) after your playdate!
