This tranquil pond in Baldwin has lily pads, a wooden deck for walking, and fishing.
Right in the middle of Baldwin is Lofts Pond Park, a perfect spot for relaxing at any age! There are many geese, ducks, and birds to watch as well as fish in the pond for fishing. There is also a boardwalk/bridge/wooden deck where you can sit to get a better view of the pond or just relax and read. You can walk around the circumference of the pond for exercise or kick a ball in the available green space. While you will see many people fishing here, we recommend using this as a catch-and-release pond rather than bringing the fish home with you! While still very tranquil and beautiful, this pond is also probably not suitable for swimming.
The park has several volunteer cleanups every year and therefore is quite clean overall. In 2005, a $2.7 million dollar project began to renovate and added two additional ponds to the area. The project included cleaning the pond, renovating and adding new walkways, planting new plants and trees, and removing invasive plant species that were causing damage to the health of the pond's ecosystem. Before the restoration project, the ponds were too shallow to support fish life. Since then, the ponds have been constructed to have a minimum of three to four feet to adequately support marine life.
This is a great spot to feed the ducks and geese and get in nature for a little fresh air and relaxation!
