Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park can fill an entire weekend from farm animals to scavenger hunts, hiking to mansion tours, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park can fill an entire weekend!

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park offers a wide variety of activities for kids of all ages and their caregivers. The park comprises three parts - the trail system, the mansion, and the museum/farm.

The 20 miles of trails are open to the public all year for free and range in difficulty from gentle carriage roads to a moderate climb up to nearby South Peak, part of the Woodstock Trail System. An excellent hike for all skill levels is the 2.5-mile round trip to a 14-acre pond, called The Pogue. Stick to the carriage road for the easiest route or incorporate some of the alternate routes. Maps are available at trailheads and at the visitors center (when it's open). In winter, the carriage roads are groomed for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Dogs are allowed on trails and leash laws are strictly enforced.

The mansion offers guided tours (currently only on weekends). Check the website for current schedules and to make a reservation (recommended but not required). Allow 90 minutes for the tour and to walk around the gardens.

The Museum and Billings Farm are a separate entity and charge their own admission fee. During spring throughfall visitors can observe a working farm and a museum of rural farm life. Demonstrations happen periodically throughout the day from learning about chickens, cooking (and eating!), food preservation, and more. There is also a restored farmhouse with self-guided tours included. Period-dressed employees are happy to answer any questions. Tour the vegetable garden and the sunflower varietal garden. Vegetables are harvested and served at the nearby Woodstock Inn and Resort.

Don't forget to get your National Parks Passport stamped and complete the Junior Ranger Program.

No food is available onsite but the nearby village of Woodstock has a nice variety of restaurants as well as quaint shops, inns, and a great farmers market.
