Marshview Park and Natural Area offer a network of paved and unpaved trails that are great for everything from walking and hiking to stroller jogging, biking, and scootering.

If you’re looking for a great place to get your kids’ energy out away from traffic, Marshview Park’s trails are perfect. A short loop of ADA-compliant paved trails is ideal for scootering, biking (best for toddler through elementary age), and stroller jogging. The trails run alongside a lovely stream with some pretty bridges and are a great place to enjoy nature. We love to collect sticks, look for mushrooms, and stop to say hi to all the many dogs out for a walk in the park.

If you’d prefer to take things off-road, several unpaved trails take you through Marshview Park’s 100 acres of a wooded area. There are some excellent mountain biking trails of varying difficulty for older kids. For littles, short hikes through these nature trails are super fun!

We suggest checking out Marshview’s trails in the fall and winter, as it can start to get buggy once it gets warm out. If you plan to head there in the later spring or summer, be sure to pack some bug spray!

There are several shaded picnic benches throughout the park, so pack lunch or a snack for your adventure.

Once you’re done with your hiking, biking, or jogging adventure, you can check out Marshview Park’s playground or smaller play areas.

Marshview Park is open dawn until dusk and has two free parking lots, one on the north side of the park and one on the south side of the park. The playground is at the south parking lot. There is a dog park and tennis courts at the north parking lot. Trails are accessible from both parking lots and run from one side to the other.

I am a Massachusetts native who grew up in the suburbs of Boston and on Cape Cod. As a military spouse I have lived all over the country from Florida to California, and several places in between. My family has now settled in Virginia where I am a stay-at-home mom to two awesome girls. I love to explore and hike National and State Parks, and spend tons of time at the beach with my kids, splashing in the waves in the summer and searching for shells and seaglass in the winter. I also love running, yoga and cooking!
