Calling all kings and queens, knights, and jesters to this fun castle-themed playground at Martha Rivers Park.
Located in Gastonia, Martha Rivers Park has something for the whole family. With a themed wooden playground, walking path, fitness trail, ball fields, and picnic shelters, this 58-acre park is so fun. The main feature is the castle-themed wooden playground. What kid’s eyes wouldn’t light up when they first see this playground? At the entrance of the castle, you can enjoy the large sandpit, which is shaded by mature trees and benches to sit on. To enter the playground, you walk through the center of the castle, and behind the walls is a fun-filled playground. This multi-level playground has slides, monkey bars, climbing, exploring, and swings. Different sections of the playground are a fort, a ship, and a race car. There is a section of the playground designated for the toddlers to play on which has a slide, climbing, bouncing bridge, and swings. The backside of the playground area is fenced in and has many shaded benches. The playground area is mixed surfaced with part of it being mulch and the other part being the poured-in rubber. Kids can run, climb, and explore for hours at this playground. The coolest part about this playground is the community coming together to build it. The playground was designed by children and built by hundreds of volunteers using privately-funded donations. Outside of the playground under mature trees are picnic tables.
Martha Rivers Park also has paved walking trails, which loop around the outer edge of the baseball fields, playground, and soccer fields with several adjoining crossovers to varying distances. The park features four soccer fields, three baseball fields, one softball field, two batting cages, and a public restroom building. There are more picnic areas, sand volleyball, and horseshoe pit areas around the park. This would be a great place for a family gathering outdoors. For picnic shelter reservations, just call the park's office.
This one-of-kind park is one place you will definitely want to check out.
