A "destination" playground in updated in 2021 thanks to a donation from KC Chiefs Quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. 

As soon as we turned the corner and saw this impressive playground my kids were shrieking with excitement. The tall tower, bright colors, giant slides and climber draws anyone's attention in. The playground here is absolutely incredible and I've never seen anything like it before. There are 3 tall towers, swings, a music area, climbing nets, suspended walkway, jumping pods, spinners, merry go round, embankment area, and even a toddler play area. There is a paved walkway surrounding the playground with plaques that have MLK speeches engraved on them. The parks purpose has always been to make it welcoming for all. The 1 million dollar donation helped keep that dream alive and make it an all inclusive playground for all abilities and bring the community together. 

Surrounding the playground is quite a few benches that you can easily sit and watch kids playing. A little bit further away is a small picnic table area but it isn't near the playground. Still a good spot to have a picnic lunch but a little too far for my comfort to watch the kids play. While we were visiting they had landscapers finishing up some of the final touches surrounding the playground. I did not notice any restrooms near the park but since they are doing a complete renovation and upgrade it's possible they aren't installed yet. 

After spending time here enjoying the fresh air and playground head over to Country Club Plaza to check out all the small businesses and grab a sweet treat at Cupcake a la Mode.
