Marylhurst Heights Park in West Linn is a quiet neighborhood park with a splash pad for the summer and a dinosaur-themed playground open year-round.

The park has lots to do; it's a hidden gem in West Linn. The playground is dinosaur-themed, with lots of little fossils hidden throughout the area. There are many structures to climb and explore. Some are not toddler-safe and need supervision or guidance. There are two slides. One is a long bumpy slide that you climb a rock wall to get to. By rough, I mean that it does not go straight down and has little bumps that speed up the ride. The second slide is a smaller slide designated for toddlers. It also has a rock wall to climb up to get to, but it is much easier to climb and more accessible for those little feet. A huge merry-go-round can also be used as a climbing structure. You can fit at least ten kids on the merry-go-round. There are also two regular swings and two baby swings.

The park has little hidden gems throughout. For example, behind the bathrooms, a sandbox can be accessed year-round. The sand does get wet in the winter and springtime, but it is still a great place for kids to play. Inside the sandbox, there are toys that people have left behind over the years, like trucks, shovels, and other sand toys.

There is a trail that leads into the woods by the sandbox and is great for a hike if you can convince your kids to leave the playground.

During the summer, the splash pad is open and makes for a way for kids to enjoy the sunny weather while also having a chance to cool down. Bring towels, sunscreen, and swimsuits to use the splash pad. Water shoes are also a great thing to have since the ground does tend to get hot.

Two covered picnic shelters are helpful for the rainy seasons and during the summer when the sun is extra hot.

The parking lot has a handful of spots but is not usually full. The playground, splash pad, sandbox, covered picnic shelter A, and hiking trail are to the right of the parking lot. There is an open green space with a gravel path around it and picnic shelter B to the left. The best thing about this park is the view from the path on a clear day. The green space is perfect for sports, running around in, and the trail around the area makes for a quick walk.

Bathrooms are available and accessible year-round.
