Mazeppa is a hidden gem of a park near downtown Mooresville.

Located just north of downtown Mooresville, the Mazeppa Park has a playground, mountain biking/ hiking trails, baseball fields, multipurpose field, soccer fields, walking track, restrooms, and free WiFi. The park is divided in two sections. One section has the soccer fields, multipurpose field, restrooms, and mountain biking/ hiking trails. The second area has the playground, baseball fields, restrooms, picnic shelter, and walking path. The section with the hiking and biking trails has six lighted soccer fields with two with artificial turf and four with grass fields plus restrooms. The soccer fields are mostly used by leagues and summer camps but can be used by the public for open play.  The biking and hiking trails has three trail options. There is the main one way loop, a two-way loop, and advance trail option off of the main loop. Since this is used for both hiking and biking trai etiquette needs to be used. Hikers stay clear of bikers and bikers need to call out to hikers when passing. These trails are a nice mix of elevations and curvy in the woods. The area is mostly shaded with hard packed dirt but can get muddy during heavy rains. Easy enough for beginners but nice quick ride for more advanced riders.

The second area has the playground, picnic areas, and baseball fields. The playground is has several play structures and has covered shade canopies. One play structure has multiple slides, steps, interactive play, and climbing. Another structure is unique and has climbing options with ball shapes, climbing, and balancing. There are several spinning toys, seesaw, and musical play. Next to the playground is the restrooms and picnic shelter. This section has four baseball diamonds mostly used for leagues during summer camps but can be used by the public..

The paved walking track is around 2 miles. This is perfect for the stroller, bikes, scooters, and running/walking. The walking path goes around the whole park, by the parking lots, and connects both areas of the park. Most of the path is open but goes along the tree line and in the woods for a couple of sections.

Mazeppa Park is a great hidden gem and generally not busy during the week. Check this park out for your next family outing.
