Meadowbrook Park and playground is a one-of-a-kind destination located in the suburbs of Kansas City.
When I tell you that this is the Holy Grail of parks, I'm not exaggerating! This is a Treeline Adventure Destination Playground. Eighty acres of space include walking trails and the playground. I have never seen a park like this before.
We were impressed at the number of activities this playground had to offer. The amount of climbing, sliding, and gliding here is fantastic. The slides were some of the tallest that I have ever seen. They were geared towards bigger kids who climb that high by themselves. My kids were obsessed with the zip lines. There are multiple areas for bigger kids and one area geared towards younger kids. Both places seemed like massive obstacle courses. This place was a child's dream comes true at a playground.
A large covered pavilion can be found beyond the playground. It was a tad too far for my comfort level to watch kids from this spot, but all parents have different comfort levels at parks. Fortunately, there were plenty of benches surrounding the playground itself. The biggest plus at this park is individual bathrooms with changing tables and a toddler potty.
Another great feature was the water fountains. They were at three different heights for adults, children, and dogs. Super cute! They truly put so much thought into designing this park for kids and families. We visited in the fall. Other families told us that one of the hills there is a very popular sledding spot.
The paths located around the park and playground were busy with people walking, running, rollerblading, and scootering. Throughout the park, there are multiple fitness areas for adults to work out. This can easily be a park where two parents can take turns watching kids while the other parent does a workout. I can see why this park is so popular with the locals, it has everything you could ever want and more.
After the kids spend a couple of hours playing at the park head over to Martin City Brewing for some pizza and a beer flight. It's the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
