Mombasha Park is home to a beautiful space for a fun, active family outing.

Located just south of Monroe in the Lake Region, Mombasha Park has outdoor activities for the whole family. The park has a playground, a nature trail, a soccer field, and a basketball court. The nature trail was fashioned by the local Boy Scout group and a nice short walk (less than a mile) around the lake. The trail is a mixed surface of gravel and dirt and not stroller friendly, so bring a baby carrier if you have a very little one. Benches have been placed along the trail to sit and view the wildlife and lake. This trail is not often busy so you can get most of the trail to yourself. Rocks and boulders jut out of the ground along the trail make for great outdoor natural play for young kids.

A small fenced-in playground is near the baseball field. The playground features a small structure with slides, climbing, and pretend play. The playground is mostly in the sun so on warm days bring extra water or head to the trees for shade. Public restrooms can be found near the playground.

Mombasha Park also serves as an arboretum which was established in 2017 by the Town of Monroe Conservation Commission. They created this to promote awareness of the importance of tree and other plants for the environment.

Local leagues use the sports fields. They are well maintained, fenced in and great for the community. Mombasha Park is a great little space to get the family outdoors.
