The Morton Arboretum is an oasis to play, learn, and protect trees in suburban Chicago!

Just a 45-minute drive from Chicago is a magical land of nature and art. The Morton Arboretum's 1,7000 acres of trees is a fantastic place to spend the day connecting to nature and your family. Family-favorite spots will include the massive garden maze, playtime in the magical Children's Garden, and hiking across the acres of parkland to explore the Arboretum's latest art installation.

Children's Garden

The Children's Garden gives playing in nature a fairy tale feeling. Children can play, climb and cool off (in the summer) within this secure and specialized area for kids of all ages. Play structures and houses lend to excellent pretend play. The wading pond is a perfect summer spot to cool off (just be sure to bring a change of clothes). Check before you go on the availability of entry to the garden. There may be a timed entry with your general admissions.

Human + Nature

As of January 9th, the Human + Nature Exhibit calls the Arboretum home. Previously, the exhibit was the Trolls Hunt. Both exhibits feature massive interactive art exhibits placed throughout the property. Part of the fun is hiking to discover them and learn about their origins and connection to nature.

Before you visit: Be sure to check the website or call to see if advanced-timed entry tickets are required.
Traveler's Tip: If you live in Chicago but travel frequently, consider getting the membership. The Morton Arboretum belongs to a reciprocal program that includes over 300 arboreta and botanical gardens across North America. Entry to these is free or heavily discounted for Arboretum members.
