The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the second main attraction at the end of March in Washington!

The iconic Washington D.C. cherry blossoms are one of the biggest attractions to D.C. throughout the year. And rightfully so, they are breath-taking, drawing crowds from around the country and world to the 1.5-mile pathway surrounding the body of water called the Tidal Basin.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is back and in full swing! Each spring, the 3,770 cherry blossom trees sprinkled throughout the city can be seen in all their glory. Given as a gift by the mayor of Tokyo to the U.S. in 1912, these trees are a sign of friendship between the two countries. This festival coincides with the bloom of the cherry blossoms, usually running from mid-March to mid-April. The festival lasts for four weeks and has all different sorts of events and attractions! When you go down to see the cherry blossoms, make sure to stop by the Tidal Basin Welcome Area & Ana Stage. Live music and vendors every Saturday and Sunday.

The Opening Ceremony on the first weekend of the festival includes many Japanese performes including music and martial arts. Followed by the Blossom Kite Festival where you can see thousands of kites in the air around the Washington Mounment and the highly anticipated Cherry Blossom Parade! If you are in the DC area on Saturday, April 9th, make sure to head to Constitution Ave (10  AM to 12PM) between 7th and 17th Street NW to watch the parade! And then finally, PetalPalooza which is a full day of live music and a fireworks show at Capitol Yards on Saturday, April 16th at 8:30 pm!

This year the Cherry Blossom Festival will run from March 20th-April 17th.

As a native of coastal Virginia, going to college in mountains of Tennessee and spending multiple summers in Wyoming working on a ranch, she loves being out in nature. She was immediately drawn to Happyly because of the importance of experiencing time outdoors for both mental wellness and the opportunity to learn about the connection between humans and nature. As the head of the Ambassador Community and Content Growth, she will act as a point of contact for all interested Ambassadors and work to expand both the 100+ Ambassador team and the content they create to stretch across the US and beyond.
