Two shady playgrounds, large picnic areas with grills for parties, and a paved path allow families lots of options to play at Nomahegan Park.

The playgrounds get pretty crowded, especially on nice weekends. The surface for both playgrounds is the standard soft rubber common at newer facilities. One playground is smaller, lower to the ground with bridges to cross, various climbs, slides, and drums to play. There are also regular and toddler swings. This playground is best suited for 18 months – 5 years.

A larger playground next to it rises high off the ground making it great for climbers and adventurous kids. This area has various levels of play good for 2-12 years old. Although high off the ground, the bridges and climbing areas are enclosed making it (hopefully) less scary for parents and/or kids. Several twisty slides offer access back to the ground from various points. Another fun section has drums and shakers for kids to make music. And, a few animal sculptures at ground level offer small climbs for kids of all sizes. There are more swings at this playground too.

Next to the playgrounds are two picnic areas. Both have picnic tables and grills available and can be rented for parties, otherwise, they are first come first serve.

The rest of the park has an easy loop paved path that can be used for biking, running or a long walk. Furry friends are allowed! A lot of grassy space is perfect for Frisbee, throwing a ball around, or the occasional exercise class. There’s also a baseball field and a lake where people can fish (with a license) or watch ducks and geese depending on the season.

A large, clean bathroom facility with changing tables is located in the parking lot area next to the playgrounds. The parking lot fills quickly so arriving earlier in the day is best if you can. Otherwise, street parking is a bit of a walk away.
