Oakmont Park is a hidden gem of a park, offering many ways to play and get some exercise.

Located in southwest Fort Worth, Oakmont Park is a 127-acre park with a playground, walking path, picnic pavilion, and green space. The playground is a short walk from the parking lot. The playground has a large play structure, a small play structure, a swing set, and bouncing ride-on toys. The play structure has several slides, a rock climbing wall, ways to climb, bridge, steps, and interactive play stations. The other play structure has some steps, a climbing set, and a slide. The swing set has both traditional and baby swings.

There are large mature trees that surround the area so the playground area is shaded through parts of the day. This makes a great space to play during the hot summer months. Nearby is a nice picnic pavilion with several picnic tables underneath. There is a large green space here too, which is great for playing, or a picnic. Bring some play equipment to have some extra fun!

The paved walking path starts from the parking lot, leading past the playground to the Fort Worth branch of the Trinity Trail System. You can also take the path to the other parking lot and follow the street to make it a loop. When you reach the Trinity Trail System you can go either direction for some distance. This trail does not make a loop, so you will need to come back the way you came. If you head to your left on the Trinity Trail you will reach the Art Cowsen Trailhead area along the way. This is a great trail for walking, running, stroller-pushing, biking, and scootering. The trails are nice and shaded. They follow along the Clear Fork Trinity River. No matter how you hit the trails, this makes a perfect start. It gives a great incentive to play at the playground when you are done.

Oakmont Park is a perfect, hidden gem of a park that lets you get outside and enjoy the weather. Check it out for your next family outing!
