Escape the metro and reconnect with nature on Oxbo Trail.
Oxbo Trail is an uncrowded hiking area in Roswell near Chattahoochee National Park. The trail is a combination of dirt and gravel surface that passes by water. A bridge along the path has a view of the waterfall and the area is good for fishing and family hiking. The average time spent at the trailhead is between 2 to 3 hours. There isn't too much to do here but it does connect to the Vickery Creek Trail. That is a 3.5-mile loop popular for hikers. The longest hike you could connect to is around 7 miles full trip. There are lots of other connectors to increase or decrease your trip.
A shaded area is available near the water and bringing a picnic to enjoy is a nice idea. There is also some seating along the trail. The waterfall is located after the dam crossing. When the trail begins you go up the stairs to cross a bridge and the waterfall is visible from this point. The hiking isn't challenging but there are some steep points that increase elevation gain. The surface of the trail is mostly dirt and gravel. I would not bring a stroller and the trail is not wheelchair accessible.
There is lots of wildlife that roam around the area and don't be surprised if you see a few deer along the way. You can bring a fishing pole and try for a catch off the banks of the creek as well. Dogs are welcome, just to make sure they remain on a leash. Both dogs and kids love cooling off in the creek! Take pictures and enjoy the hike!
