Multi-Purpose Sports Complex with a Great Playground and Access to Bradford Greenway.
Palmer Park is a multi-purpose sports complex located in Madison, AL. This park has something for everyone in the community, with areas for softball, baseball, soccer, football, a playground, or a nice walk. With nearly 30 ball fields plus batting cages, you can imagine this place gets bustling during the season. However, it's also great for little kids.
The playground is geared to a younger bunch but still has a lot to offer. Half of the playground is on a wood chip surface, while the other half is a rubber matting. There are a few castle structures made of the typical playground plastic and have a few climbing areas and slides. The equipment is pretty spread out, which gives a lot of space for play and space between groups. They've got a variety of bouncing dinosaurs to sit on and some other bouncy things on the wood chips. (I feel like there are never proper terms for some of the playground equipment, so bear with me on that!)
Lots of swings, including handicap accessible ones. The park is ADA friendly and welcomes all. There is a cute choo-choo train to play in, monkey bars, and a tall standing slide. The playground is not overwhelming. It just has a variety of things to do geared towards the little ones. There are also many benches around the outside with a few pavilions and picnic tables.
The park has walking trails to get to all the fields and access the Bradford Greenway across the street. There is a parking lot across from the trailhead in Palmer Park. This place is clean and a nice environment for families!
