Basketball courts, swings, and docks dominate Pier 2 at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
With many sports courts and game areas, this pier is geared toward older kids and adults. Numerous covered and uncovered basketball courts are popular attractions for pickup games or to pass around and work on layups. The basketball courts are open from 8 am-11 pm to enjoy throughout the day with a great view of the water. There are also handball courts, ping pong tables, and bocce courts. Those can be a little tough to find in regular parks, but luckily Pier 2 has plenty. The large outdoor roller skating area is also a great spot! No need to worry about hitting any bumps or uneven bricks in the city's sidewalks; this flat and smooth spot on Pier 2 is perfect to work on your roller skating skills. Another great feature of Pier 2 is the number of swings they have! They're great viewing seats to watch basketball games on the courts.
My favorite part of Pier 2 is the kayaking dock! You can join the Brooklyn Bridge Boathouse for free kayaking sessions or utilize the public kayak program that runs from June through August. If you have your kayaks or paddle boards, you can carry them to the beach at Pier 4 to push off from there.
