Plaza Ferdinand VII is a national historic landmark in the heart of Pensacola.
The Plaza Ferdinand VII is an outdoor garden and park in the Historic Pensacola Village area of downtown Pensacola, Florida. It is located on Palafox Street between Government and Zaragoza Streets. It was named after Ferdinand VII of Spain, the King of Spain between 1813 and 1833. The plaza features a bust of Andrew Jackson at the spot where he was sworn in as territorial governor. A promoter of Pensacola, politician, and railroad executive, William Dudley Chipley has been honored in a memorial for his contribution to the city. A fountain thought to be a replica of one in Seville, Spain, was placed on the site in 1909 after local citizens, and school children raised funds to pay for it.
Take a walk through this park at the center of the historic district downtown. Plaza Ferdinand has some gorgeous oak trees that really stand out in this park. The park is located in downtown Pensacola. It is located between Government Street and Zarragossa Street. The plaza is free to visit and makes for a wonderful place to explore.
For history buffs, walk across the street and visit the Pensacola Museum of History at 330 South Jefferson, to find out more about Pensacola's history. Also nearby is the famous Seville Quarter where you can walk and grab breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner and enjoy live entertainment in the variety of entertainment rooms or just stop by to see the historic fire truck sitting outside. Today, Seville had outdoor tents for grabbing lunch. There's always something new happening at Seville Quarter!
