Prescott City Beach is one of the quietest beaches in the area, making it a perfect spot to spend an afternoon with kids.
One of two beaches in Prescott, this is our family's absolute favorite. Not only is it hidden and quiet, but it's calm with nature surrounding it even though it's in the heart of the city. It's a hidden gem and can be hard to find. As soon as you turn off of Highway Ten onto Lake Street, follow Lake Street until you see the small building and parking lot. The building contains bathrooms, a small shelter with a few picnic tables, a drinking fountain, and a faucet to wash the sand off your feet before heading home. The last feature is my favorite part about this beach, not all beaches have the water to rinse feet, and as a mom who hates vacuuming her car constantly, it's a plus.
To get down to the beach, you have to walk down some steep stairs, so this beach is not accessible to anyone who can't do the stairs, a big downfall. The sandy beach here isn't huge, but it's quite easy to spread out from other families. It's a great spot to camp out for an afternoon, build sandcastles, and play in the sand. During the summer, the city typically has a lifeguard on duty at certain hours of the day but this varies depending on staffing. The water here is very calm because it's a river, not a lake or an ocean. You can walk out here quite far before it gets too deep. This hidden gem is such a nice spot to spend an afternoon with your family.
After leaving here, stop by Enrique's Taco House and grab some delicious food for supper!
