Rainbow Trout Farm is a fun fishing experience for all ages.

Located seven miles east of Sandy on the way to Mt. Hood, this trout farm is the perfect spot for kids of all ages to catch their first fish. There are ten different ponds filled with various sizes of trout, from tiny to huge. Since I was taking my kids for their first fishing experience, I chose the pond with the smallest fish and closest to the tackle shop for help when I couldn't figure out how to get the hooks out.

The prices are based on fish length. They will measure all the fish you caught and add up the total. They provide poles, bait, nets, and cleaning. Ice is also included at no additional cost! No experience is needed, and they have kid poles to lend out.

When you check in, you will be given a bucket of water to store the caught fish, the fishing poles, some hooks, worms, and marshmallows to help attract the fish. You will be responsible for baiting your hooks with the live worms, so keep that in mind! In the end, my kids only wanted to reel the fish in, and I had to do the rest. You must retain all the fish you catch because trout die very quickly after being caught.

The farm has 30 acres of beautiful grounds, including open picnic tables and areas that you can reserve by the hour ($50/hour and includes pop-up canopies, tables, and bbq grills). They also have propane grills you can rent for a $25/2 hour period. Flush toilets are available. I didn't notice any changing tables in the bathroom.

Opening day is March 1st, and they are open daily from 8-5 through October 31st. November and December, the farm is only open on weekends. They are closed for January and February.

It could be an excellent location for a birthday party, company event, or school field trip.
