Richfield Lake has a Paved Trail Perfect for Strollers, Sighting Wildlife, and Playing at the Nearby Playground
Just a few blocks south of Minneapolis is one of the Twin Cities' best-hidden gems. Spend an entire morning or afternoon at Richfield Lake Park. Families will adore this charming local hiking path and playground. The hiking path circles a gorgeous pond, featuring an abundance of plants and animals. In the spring, families can even see goslings and ducklings (we saw over 50 goslings on a recent walk). In addition to geese and ducks, expect to see turtles, herons, and other birds. Kids will absolutely delight in spotting some of their favorite local wildlife.
On one end of the path, find a cozy playground perfect for a quick pitstop. At the playground, kids can swing, slide, and spin their way around the equipment. The playground works well for toddlers and older kids (baby swings are available). Nearby benches are perfect for parents and caregivers who need a break too. On-site portable toilets are helpful for littles needing an emergency stop.
After stopping at the playground, continue your way around the walking path. Whether you have tiny trekkers or still haul a stroller around, the path is perfect for all ages. Plus, furry friends can walk on leash here too. After your walk, you can even stop for lunch. On one side of the path, exit for lunch at Pizza Luce, featuring great pizzas and a patio. Or, grab a quick bite at Lakewinds Food Co-op, which offers a great deli, cafe, and a few outdoor tables.
Parking can be found near the playground, or in the back lot of Lakewinds Food Co-op, off Lyndale Ave.
