Richfield Pool is a fantastic place to cool off and splash around during the summer!
If you're looking for a cozy community pool that offers fantastic options for big and little kids, look no further! The Richfield Outdoor Pool is one of the best community pools in the Twin Cities. Open seasonally (generally June - mid-August), this pool offers kid-friendly fun for infants to teens, as well as a large parking lot, budget-friendly concessions, locker rooms, and more. Plus, seasonal passes are available (kids under 1 are free).
Upon entering, find locker rooms for men and women available if needed. After exiting the locker room area, you'll find two pool areas. The Richfield Outdoor Pool features a zero-depth-entry children's wading pool and a 50-meter main pool (there is a wheelchair access ramp). Plus, kids will love the double waterslide (must be 42” tall to ride waterslide alone). In fact, you can spend the whole afternoon racing down the slides together! Lap riding or tandem runs are also okay. Older kids who can prove their swimming capabilities can also use the one-meter diving board. Then, water volleyball and two 25-yard lap lanes are also available. Lifeguards patrol every area within the Richfield Outdoor Pool.
The concessions are budget-friendly and offer a great place for lunch or a snack. You cannot bring your own food inside (only water). The concessions are located in a separate area and food must be kept within that area. Concession options include items like pretzels, chips, soda, and nachos, etc. The concessions accept card payments.
In the children's wading pool area, families will find ample pool-side loungers and umbrellas offering plenty of shade. Come early if you want to secure an umbrella zone (during the week, this usually means coming before lunch, even earlier on the weekend). Little kids will love the splash zone, buckets that fill with and dump water, small water slides, and more! Big kids can also go between the children's pool area and the big slides. There is a special tot time for kids under 7 years old Monday - Saturday from 10:00am - 11:00am (an hour before the pools official open).
Afterward, you can head to nearby Veterans Park to play or stroll along the paved trails. Or, grab lunch at one of the many nearby places to eat at Hwy 77 and 66th, including a Subway, Panda Express, Caribou Coffee, Noodles & Co., and Five Guys (to name a few). There is also a Target and Home Depot in this area, as well.
